final tutorial...

I decided to experiment with lots parts of photoshop and create a montage. I used the color replacement tool to turn my brother and I black and white and then the lasso and selection saving features to take us out of one picture and into another. Then I used the levels to change parts of the picture. Then I brought a pelican in from another picture I took and added it into the water in this one. I know it is super random but I learned stuff from it...

The work continues...

After talking to Denielle on Wednesday, I decided to make a few changes to my website. Rather than having "Favorite Sites" under the thumbnail images, I changed it to "Favorite Projects" and have the names and a very brief description of each project under it. These descriptions, along with the thumbnails are clickable to go to these pieces - 1 thumbnail for each section of the portfolio.

I have also tried putting one of the light greens from my color palette as the background color for the page, but can't decide if I like it or not let.  I have been continuing to work on each section of the portfolio and have 2 of the 4 sections completed.

thoughts....

What are yalls thoughts on this for the homepage? The four boxes would be clickable to go to that piece or you can browse through the portfolio nav on the left.

Some changes...

After our crit on Wednesday, I made a few changes to my site. I took away the outlined boxes where my art and descriptions are and made the boxes look like the other two. I chose to use a darker shade of the background color to put my art in so it flows with the rest of the page and keeps the page structured but is suttle enough to not take away from the art. I also used more of the space within this box to show a closer view of the tree that I illustrated. (graphic design will be in a different color to show the section you're in...it's just not in this pic)

Web Portfolio

This page shows what the graphic design portion of my portfolio would look like. After clicking on graphic design in the portfolio nav, this page would come up with the first piece in the main box with a description under it. After viewing this piece, clicking on the right or left arrow beside the box would navigate throughout the pieces in that specific category. I am going to include the actual size of each piece within the description to give the viewer an idea of how the piece is intended to be viewed.

Mac-Like Background

This tutorial used the pen tool in photoshop along with lots of layer effects and brush effects. I still don't understand the pen tool in photoshop but, one day I will! CLICK HERE!

New Web Portfolio!

Here is my wire frame for the new site....

After completing the wireframe, I went ahead and designed one of the pages. My portfolio is broken down into four sections. My artwork will show up in the box and you will be able to click on the arrows to move between pieces within each category. The page layout between each section will be the same to have a uniform look.

Type with Layer Properties

In this tutorial, I learned how to do simple type treatments using the layer properties options. After doing one of the type treatments, I spend some time testing other elements in this section and creating my own type look.

YouTheDesigner

I found this website and it has some cool things on it for graphic designers from photoshop brushes to jobs...www.YouTheDesigner.com

Web Portfolio...

I feel like it was just yesterday that I finished my current portfolio site. Now it is time to revise/redo it! Rather than starting from scratch, I want to keep some of the elements in my current site, but use things we have learned this semester to make the site better - CSS, hopefully. I feel like there are parts that are working, but there are also parts that need to be revamped! I have also thought of not having as much of my work on the site so if a potential employer looks at it before an interview, I don't go in and show all the stuff they have already seen online. I also want to create some sort of leave behind for interviews, I'm just not sure when that will get done - summer?
